Some of us in life are not very lucky.
When it comes to addiction especially, it can be hard hard road toward recovery.
Tonight’s meditation gives us pause to contemplate and be mindful of other’s attempts at self-recovery, as well as reflecting upon our own courage to change potential abusive situations. These situations could be self-abuse, physical abuse, mental, emotional, sexual. Neglect, mistreatment, adverse conditioning. The list goes on. It could be how we are treating others, or how someone else could be treating us. Oftentimes it is hard to see through the blinders of pain, fear, and anger. And often we cloud those blinders even further by some means of self-medication, whether that is medication abuse, alcohol, or some other mind-altering drug. Sometimes it is even an addiction to simple things such as shopping, holding on to items so much you become a hoarder, or even being overly sexually promiscuous.
We all self medicate, some use what was mentioned above, others use other alternative-medications: Homeopathy, Yoga, exercise, Reiki, Aromatherapy, Acupuncture & Acupressure, Massage, tea, herbal supplements, Meditation, going on retreat.
I guess what I am saying is that there are safer ways to deal with life’s troubles and hardships.
Have the courage my dear ones to forgive yourself your past, and look to a future that is filled with beauty, love, and health.
Have the courage to change for the better. Seek help when you need it. Do not be afraid to ask for a helping hand because there is always one there to lift you up. You simply need to reach out and make the first steps.
Are there things in your life that need changing? Is there a situation that you would do better not being involved with? Is your body, heart and soul crying out for help? Or could it be a simple thing that is bothering you that could be fixed in no time flat?
Have courage. You are stronger than you think. I believe in you.
I wish you all luck on your journeys.
Good night. Sweet dreams.
