I hate to say this so soon, but summer is almost over.
I know, I know. The high temperatures and humidity seem to only be getting worse, but the season of summer is technically now waning.
Soon will be the first harvest of the year, Lammas, and even now berries and other vegetables and fruit are at their prime picking. Now begins the season of harvesting and preserving for the winter months ahead.
Now begins the season of the harvest steward, the one who looks after the food stores and plans for the months ahead. The time to look ahead in time, see past the ripe bounty that surrounds us, and be mindful for the future.
Now more than ever is a time for gratitude. Be mindful of your own personal usage of your resources. Are they sustainable?
We can all do with a little future planning from time to time. How will you provide for yourself, especially if you are in a raw diet in the coming months ahead? How will preserve that freshness? Now is a good time to look into and learn some master homesteading classes.
For the season of gratitude ans thanks-giving is fast approaching.
